13. MANAGING FALL RISK
Don’t use a mobile elevating work platform if you have not
been trained to operate it. Check with your supervisor if you
have the right to use it.
Check that there are no damages in the joints and no oil leakage.
Adjust the crane horizontally on the spread support legs
to a position where the wheels are raised off the ground. Use
an additional support plate under the support leg if there is a risk
for the foundation to fail.
If the crane has no support legs, make sure the foundation fulfills
the requirements of the manufacturer regarding its evenness and
strength.
Don’t operate the mobile elevating work platform with
the platform elevated except on a clear even area.
Before beginning to work, test that the mechanics, safety guards,
and emergency lowering system, emergency stop and voice
signal are functioning.
Clean unnecessary things and trash from the platform.
Make sure that there is an inspected extinguisher in the basket.
Don’t overload the mobile elevating work platforms.
Don’t use any risers, stretch over the guardrail or stand on the
guardrail.
The platforms are not designed and should not be used
to transport goods.
Elevating work platforms must be inspected annually.
It is mandatory to use safety harness when working on a mobile
