2. FAMILIARIZATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Foreigners working in Finland:
The employee’s right to work in Finland is based on the rights of a citizen of EU/EEA
country, employee’s valid residence permit or the fact that an employee’s residence
permit is not required.
Citizens of the EU/EEA member states have the right to work in Finland without a work
permit. With a valid passport or Identification card with marked citizenship, EU/EEA
citizens are entitled to exercise the right to work in Finland.
The companies that have employed any foreign workers must retain all the information
regarding their foreign workers for four years after termination of the contract.
If the employer of the posted worker does not have a business location in Finland, it
must have a representative in Finland, if the posting of the worker is more than 14 days
in duration.
The employer should keep records for each worker stating the working hours and compensations
paid for his work. Foreign workers and foreign employers must follow the
Finnish Labour Legislation while working in Finland.
the employer has the duty to organise occupational health care
for their workers in Finland
the terms defined in the Collective Agreements regarding wages
and working conditions apply also to foreign workers and employers.
