Radio-controlled cranes
Radio-controlled cranes may only be used
by persons that have adequate training for
using them.
Before the lift
Check the markings in the equipment that
the transmitter is definitely the correct one
for the crane you intend to use.
Check that the transmitter is in working order
and that the support straps are in good
condition. The transmitter may only be used
when it is fastened by its support straps or
attached to a belt. Check that you hold the
transmitter properly.
Check the location of the main switch so that
you can cut off power to the equipment if necessary.
Before operation, check that no-one is on the
crane or within the danger area. The crane lift
prevention device must be closed and a sign
forbidding unauthorised access to the area
must be in place.
Check that the hook, the load and the crane
can move without hindrance during the lift.
Check the direction of travel and the corresponding
direction symbols.
Carry out checks to make sure the control
equipment, brakes, limit switches and emergency
stop are functioning before starting to
work.
12. HOISTING
During the lift
While using the crane, walk or stand at a suitable
distance from the load, so that you can
see the working area as well as possible.
Do not go under the load or into the danger
area. It is forbidden to lift a load above
people. Sound the alarm to warn others of
the lift.
Take care not to collide with the end stops.
Check the route of travel so you do not collide
with anything while moving the load. Keep
the working environment clean.
If you lose control of the crane, take your
hands off the control unit so that the crane
comes to a stop. If necessary, press the emergency
stop button.
Use the transmitter carefully. Never give the
transmitter to anyone who is not authorised
to operate a radio controlled crane.
After the lift
Put the emergency stop button into the open
position when you have finished using the
crane. The transmitter must be stored out of
reach of unauthorised users.
Recharging the transmitter battery must be
carried out in accordance with the instructions.
Always inform your supervisor of any faults
or damage which could prevent or hinder
operation of the crane. Should anything
unusual occur, the crane is to be taken out
of operation immediately. Use of the crane
is not allowed until faults causing immediate
danger have been repaired. 63
