24. RESPONSIBILITIES OF DIFFERENT WORKPLACE PARTIES FOR OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Supervisors
Supervisors are the employer’s representatives that closely direct and
monitor the employees’ work and assign work to the employees.
Activities:
Obligation to oversee implementation
Obligation to provide direct supervision
and training of workers
Evaluates physical and mental resources
when assigning work
Responsibility and duties:
Responsible to orientate the worker to the work and working environment
Responsible to ensure that the employee has received all personal protective
equipment and that the PPE is in good condition
Responsible that the employee has been trained in necessary safety
regulations and has been encouraged to follow these regulations
To be an example in following the safety regulations and to be sure
the employees are following these regulations.
To make sure that the working conditions, equipment, and tools are in safe
working condition before and during performance of a work task
To inform his superior about needed safety measures that are outside
of his field of responsibility
Planner
Responsible that plans for work comply with safe working requirements so that work
Planner here is the person who participates in planning of the working environment,
workspaces, production and working methods, and tools.
Activities:
Takes the occupational safety standards and regulations
and recommendations into consideration as needed
when planning work
Gets definition in applying directives from specialists or
occupational safety authorities
Responsibility and duties:
Responsible to consider all applicable occupational safety norms in plans.
Responsible that plans for work comply with safe working requirements
so that work does not endanger the workers’ physical or mental health.
