10. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Respiratory protection
The most important way to prevent impurities from spreading in the air at the
workplace is to use local exhaust.
Respiratory protective equipment is divided into two categories: respirators with filters
and breathing apparatus (isolating protective equipment). Respirators can have
dust filters, gas filters, or combined filters. When using a respirator with a filter, the
oxygen content in the air should not be lower than 19 percent.
Use a half mask with a dust filter if the impurities in the air are particles (aerosols,
welding fumes and dusts from different materials). The protection class of the filter
is chosen based on the size of the particles and their dangerous nature. A particulate
filter doesn’t filter gases!
Note! Put on the particulate filter and adjust
it to fit your face properly. Wear throughout
the entire exposure time.
